Ispeak ikea
I work from a desk in an open-plan office, which is the perfect setting to harness our culture of togetherness and equality.Īs expected, the office is decked out with the latest IKEA furniture, giving us inspiration and helping us to get into the right headspace. That’s what I love about IKEA’s friendly and inclusive culture, where everyone is seen as equal.
I think it’s really important to build personal friendships with everyone at work, regardless of your working relationship – and FIKA allows you to do just that. I like to start my work day with an earl grey tea, while chatting to colleagues about what they’ve been up to outside of work. The huddle takes place in a large break-out area called FIKA – a Swedish word that means taking a break with a coffee and sweet treat. It’s a great opportunity to get everyone together from across the business and to find out what people are working on. In the office, we have a ‘morning huddle’ every morning at 9am, which is hosted by a different function of the business each week.
I often use the time to catch up with friends, family or colleagues on the phone – hands-free of course! During the journey, I like to listen to the radio and depending on my mood, I usually choose BBC Radio 4 or something a bit lighter like Heart Radio. I tend to travel by car when I’m in the office.
What time do you leave for work and how do you get there? What do you do on the commute?ĭepending on when my meetings start I leave between 7am and 8am, I sometimes wait until my daughter is picked up by the school bus at 8am. Our unique culture encourages co-workers to be themselves and express their individual personality, including through their fashion sense. My preferred colours are black, olive, white, grey and red.
ISPEAK IKEA CODE
There’s no dress code at IKEA, so I don’t have a separate work wardrobe and like to wear my everyday clothes. With my jam-packed morning routine, I might meditate for 15 minutes before travelling to the IKEA office in Wembley, just to calm my mind – that is if I have time.Īs I am single mum with a 12-year-old girl, I’m fortunate enough to have an au pair who helps out in the morning. For breakfast, I tend to eat oats with nuts and flax and chia seeds. I typically start working out at 6am for one hour, then I will drink hot water with fresh ginger to refuel my body. Living a balanced and healthy lifestyle is really important to me.ĭo you have breakfast/workout/meditate in the morning? Before getting ready to exercise, I prepare a healthy salad or vegetable-based meal to take into work for lunch if it is a day in the office. What’s the first thing you do when you get up?Īfter my early wake-up, I usually have a strong coffee to kick-start my body with energy for the day ahead.
I like to wake up early to have my own time and start off my day feeling refreshed! I set my alarm for 5am on most weekdays, but sometimes I lie in a bit later until 5.30am. As well as motivating people in-house she helps make a positive impact on the lives of those outside the company and recently spoke about London living wage at the House of Commons and General London Assembly.ĭespite her busy work schedule and being a single mum, Pernille is able to manage her day so that come the evening she is relaxed and able to enjoy family time.įind out what it's like to be a manager at IKEA and follow Pernille through her day.
